As agile as a product-based environment, as reliable as an enterprise: This was Eurowings’ vision for Eurowings Digital, a subsidiary dedicated to building digital travel services at fast speeds while Eurowings stayed focused on flight experiences. And to design a business environment where innovation occurred continuously, they hired KI challengers.

A product-based and digital environment to support a modern airline

KI challengers shaped Eurowings Digital’s company structure and strategy, laying the foundations so its employees could work towards building a complete B2C digital travel companion platform. We defined company value propositions, outlined product and engineering methodologies, and mapped business processes alongside all technical and functional requirements.

Notably, KI challengers recruited 50 full-time Eurowings Digital employees, the majority of which came from Eurowings itself, and enabled them with tools and training to thrive in a product-oriented environment. To ease their transition to a new working setup, a distinct employer brand and culture was crafted based on best practices for digital sales and experience.

Methodologies, structure, processes and talent for digital services

KI challengers took the initial idea for Eurowings Digital and built a business model and organizational structure to match its long-term goals. Not long after it was created, Eurowings’ non-flight ancillary revenue grew significantly – an achievement their former CCO credited to their new business structure and engineering methodologies.

Fundamentally, it was Eurowings’ willingness to re-define itself that made it possible for Eurowings Digital to reach its present success. All KI challengers had to do was combine its own expertise with Eurowings’ own to keep the success in flight.
